Machu Picchu is a magical place. You can feel the past seeping out of every stone.
We got to the ruins right before dawn and we sat and watched the sun rise over the Andes mountains. At this particular moment it finally rose above the mountain peaks and the ruins were bathed in the early morning rays of the sun. It was beautiful.
Next time I go back I will climb Wayna Picchu, which towers above the ruins. They only let 200 people at a time on the trail and from what I understand, you have to sign a waiver.
