The Possibility of Darkness

“It was the possibility of darkness that made the day seem so bright.” ~ STEPHEN KING, Wolves of the Calla

This is an image from my trip to Maryland last October. North Point State Park again, which is a bit to the north of Baltimore city in a small town named Edgemere. Beautiful five mile hiking trail which travels along the Chesapeake Bay for a few miles. This old structure is only about one mile into the hike and nestled in the forest next to the trail. North Point State Park used to be an amusement park in the early 1900’s and this was the power house which provided power to the trolley.

I used the Orton Effect again here but did not achieve the look I was going for. I wanted a more subdued and dark feel to the image. I used the saturation slider and took a little color out and then added a texture layer using the “multiply” blending mode. At that point the vegetation in the image had a washed out look to it so I used the burn tool to darken some areas.

  1. It looks quite eerie! How appropriate with the Stephen King quote. 🙂

    • Thanks, Barbara. 🙂 It’s a creepy building, especially tucked away in the forest like that. A scary movie waiting to happen. lol
