Before & After

Fells Point at Sunset

Another shot taken on my visit to Baltmore in October last year. This was take with my Canon Rebel XSi on the water taxi. We were leaving Fells Point to go back to the Inner Harbor.

The first thing I did was auto correct and that didn’t work at all. I then sharpened the image in Photoshop and used the Edit/Fade Sharpen command and reduced the opacity to 65 (ish). I then created duplicate layers in Photoshop and added warming filters to each one, setting the blending option to “multiply” on one and “s0ft overlay” on the other. Lastly I reduced some noise in the image and used the clone tool to clone out a few light spots that didn’t quite fit with the second version.

I like the tones in the edited image but I’m thinking it might be a little too dark.  What do you think?

End of the Day

This was taken on the water taxi leaving Fells Point in Baltimore, Maryland in late October last year.  I added a few filters to this one to deepen the color of the sunset, added a sharpening layer and removed a bit of noise and voila! 🙂

After Dark….

“After dark all cats are leopards.” ~ Native American Proverb

This one is an old Canon Elph S410 shot from Freeport, Texas at sunrise. I was playing around with layers in Photoshop. In this particular rendition, there are several layers… one duplicate of the original with contrast and saturation made dark and blended and another one with a a texture and using the multiply blending option. The cat itself is another layer set to normal blending. And I think I used a filter, but now I can’t remember. 🙂

I think it might have turned out a bit too dark but I’m happy with the render of the cat and the cat’s shadow, which I made using the burn tool in Photoshop.
