Fireworks!
My first attempt at firework photography using “bulb” mode on my camera. I need to improve on the technique, to be sure but for a first attempt I was fairly pleased!

Kaelyn and Andrew
Hello and a belated happy new year to you all. I hope 2010 was good to you and that 2011 will be even better. It’s certainly looking like that will be the case for me! I’m going to try to keep better updates in this blog of mine… it’s my new year’s resolution!
I closed out 2010 with an engagement session for Kaelyn and Andrew (the Big Day is April 1st!) and I can say in all honesty it’s one of the best photo sessions I’ve ever had. These two were awesome… they did everything I asked, even climbing on to a barn roof! They even had a few creative ideas of their own. The shoot lasted all day long and we were exhausted by the time it was over but so happy we got some amazing shots.
Most memorable part of the photo shoot was at sunset:
Me: “Guys, guys… over there, fast fast… the sun is setting, it’s the GOLDEN HOUR!!!”
*** I lie on the ground shooting the happy couple as the sun sinks very quickly***
Sparky: “Jen, you’re laying in a fire ant bed!”
Me: “I can’t get up, I’m in the zone, I’m in the zone!”
*** Continues to shoot as Sparky brushes fire ants off of my legs***
LOL – Here are a few shots from the session. Kaelyn and Andrew… thanks, guys. It was truly a blast.

Simple Beauty
A tree in Hoover’s Valley Cemetery. I used the Sigma 10-20mm wide angle on a tripod. Only basic white balance and minor sharpening adjustments were made on this photo… the morning light was beautiful and did all the work for me.

day before sunday
This was at the first church we visited in Schulenburg many weeks ago. These old church pews sat outside on a long, shady porch. It was such a peaceful scene… a still and quiet summer afternoon. Definitely my kind of worship.

1902 – 1991
This graveyard is nestled in a field behind one of the painted churches in Schulenberg, Texas. I manually focused on the headstones in the back in order to make the headstone in the foreground of the picture a bit blurry.
